vuller How does Park and Ride work?

P+R is easy. Without having to drive around for hours looking for a parking place, you park your car and then take the tram, bus, metro or train into the city.

Parking in Amsterdam for € 6.00 a day?

Amsterdam offers four parking locations that charge € 6.00 per 24 hours. Once you have parked here, free public transport will take you into the heart of the city. You can find these attractively priced parking facilities at the following locations

  • under the Sloterdijk train station;
  • at Zeeburgereiland;
  • in the parking garage at the Olympic Stadium;
  • under the Amsterdam ArenA;
  • At Bos and Lommer.

The parking facilities are clearly indicated on the A10 ring road; simply follow the signs. A bus, tram, metro or train will be waiting to take you into the city, while your car is safely parked in a supervised parking lot. The Sloterdijk and Olympic Stadium facilities also offer the option of borrowing up to two bicycles. This parking fee discount is not valid during special events at the ArenA. Other than that, the four locations are open seven days a week, 24 hours a day.

Parking discount rules

1.     Take a parking card at the entrance.
Do not use a credit card at the entrance, as this will not entitle you to a discount.

2.     Give your parking card to the attendant and ask for the discount.
The discount rate of € 6.00 per 24 hours is valid for a maximum of four consecutive days, or 96 hours (= € 24.00). After 96 hours, the discount will become void, and you will have to pay the normal parking rate.

3.     The attendant will provide you return tickets (OV-chipkaart), for a maximum of 5 persons, for the train (NS) or tram/bus/metro (GVB).
Sloterdijk train station and Olympic Stadium also offer you the option of borrowing up to two bicycles as an alternative to public transport.

4.    When you start your journey, hold your card up to the pink logo on the card reader. At metro stations, card readers are built into the gates. At metro stops yellow card readers are located on freestanding pillars.  Make sure that you log in and log out as well (very important). NS train tickets are already pre-stamped with the day’s date.

5.     Visit the city. Make sure to keep your ticket(s)!
If you do not use your train/tram/bus/metro tickets, or do not log in or out, the discount will become void. You must then pay the standard rate.

6.     On your journey back to the parking facility, hold your card (OV-chipkaart) up to the pink logo on the card reader by starting and ending the journey.
GVB tickets are valid for a maximum of 96 hours (you only can use them to travel to the city center and back, so you can't use them for other purposes). The NS tickets are valid up until 04.00 on the night following the day on the date stamp.

7.     Give your parking card and NS or GVB tickets to the attendant at the desk. You can pay using a bankcard with PIN number or credit card. Cash payments are only possible at the ticket machine.
